Your Gifts Matter

Philanthropy has built Allen College, and philanthropy is what will help the College continue to flourish. Together, gifts of time, talent, and treasure help support Allen College to prepare exceptional healthcare students. Below are examples of how philanthropy impacts Allen College.

Allen Foundation

The Memorial Foundation of UnityPoint Health - Waterloo was incorporated for the purpose of operating a foundation to support and benefit UnityPoint Health - Waterloo and its subsidiaries that include Allen Hospital and Allen College. The Internal Revenue Service recognizes Allen Foundation and Allen College as a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit, tax-exempt corporation. The Foundation and the College are authorized to solicit and receive gifts, grants, pledges, bequests, or other donations. The Foundation conducted a capital campaign, "Securing a Healthy Future," to raise funds to build Russell S. Gerard II Hall, McBride Auditorium, and the Barrett Forum, and a "Promises to Keep" capital campaign to raise funds for scholarships, program development, and a new third building, Winter Hall, that opened in August 2012. In 2015, the For Allen For You capital campaign kicked off with a goal to raise $8.8 million for Allen College initiatives. Thanks to this campaign, our scholarship endowment has grown immensely, a new simulation lab was created, and we are able to update Gerard Hall to benefit students, faculty, and staff.
